Young talented students in classical ballet need specialized coaching, care and nurturing, in order to develop their technique and artistry.

With her wealth of experience as an international Principal Artist, and her highly respected reputation as a teacher and dance educator, Christine Walsh has been in a unique position to create one of the most intensive training programs yet developed for talented young Australian ballet students. Christine Walsh and the specially selected staff are providing ideal training for a small elite group of future professional dancers. The number of students for each level in classical ballet classes is limited to a maximum of 12 to ensure students are given maximum attention in their training.

The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet is well known for the care and development of young ballet students through the school's holistic approach to the students' training.

The Specialized Coaching Program uses a Russian Vaganova based method of classical ballet training and the syllabus used is the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet. Specialized Coaching Program students are given the opportunity during the year to dance with the Full-Time students in performances.

The Specialized Coaching Program leads into the 21626VIC Certificate III in Dance (Classical Ballet and Performing Arts) and 21627VIC Certificate IV in Dance (Classical Ballet and Performing Arts) then into the 21628VIC Diploma of Dance (Classical Ballet and Performing Arts). Therefore students at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet now have a comprehensively designed training pathway from 8 years of age through to professional age. This program is unique here in Australia, as the strong classical base along with Contemporary, Character and Jazz studies is gradually expanded through the Senior and Full-Time Years to include a wide range of Contemporary Arts subjects. The dancers graduating at the end of the Full-Time Dance Diploma will be fully equipped for a career in either a classical ballet company, a contemporary dance company or in commercial theatre. The ACB courses provide a broad skill base for the students to become complete dancers and widen their employment opportunities.
